Quantum Leap Cast

7th April 1963: Sam leaps into the teenage body of Cheree of ‘The Lovettes’, a trio of black soul singers. After ruining the girls’ encore at ‘Bobby Lee’s Nightclub’, Sam saves Paula and Lynell from the attentions of a group of boys while on their way home. Arriving at Lynell’s house, the girls suffer the wrath of her father, the Reverend Walters, who disapproves of his daughter’s choice of career because he wants her to sing in his church’s gospel choir. Al informs Sam that Lynell is destined to run away from home and take up a contract with the sleazy Bobby Lee, which sends her life downhill and prevents her from ever speaking to her father again. Al states that Sam’s mission is to keep Lynelle out of show business, but Sam believes that he must persuade Reverend Walters to support his daughter’s singing career; the best way to achieve this it to get the Reverend to listen to ‘The Lovettes’ perform – but can Sam sing and dance like a sixteen year-old girl?
